Dorje Shugdan LargeThis name was given to the Center by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. Dharmapala in Sanskrit means 'Dharma Protector'.

A manifestation of a Buddha or Bodhisattva, whose main function is to eliminate obstacles and gather all necessary conditions for pure Dharma practitioners.

Dorje Shugden is our Dharma Protector who is an emanation of the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri. His main functions are to avert the inner and outer obstacles that prevent practitioners from gaining spiritual realizations, and to arrange all the necessary conditions for their spiritual development.

Located in Roanoke, Virginia, Dharmapala Kadampa Buddhist Center provides a peaceful and inspiring environment in which people from all walks of life can learn about Buddhism and meditation.
