Buddhist Refuge - What is Protection From Suffering?
Talk, Refuge Vow Ceremony
and Refuge Retreat Weekend
December 3rd and 4th, 2016
Everyone experiences fear. Fear for ourselves, our family, friends and world. Where can we turn to protect ourselves from fear and anxiety? The practice through which we transform our fears is called 'going for refuge'.
This special weekend event will begin with a talk on Saturday, December 3rd from 10 am - 12 pm with instruction and guided meditation practice to help us transform our fears, worries and difficulties in our daily life. This talk will conclude with a formal Buddhist Refuge Vow Ceremony - a ritual practice for those who wish to take or renew their vows and commitments of refuge. (You may attend the talk without remaining for the Refuge Vow Ceremony.)
Saturday afternoon and Sunday we will offer an opportunity to participate in refuge retreat meditation sessions. Meditation sessions will be held throughout the afternoon Saturday, and Sunday. There is no charge to attend the meditation retreat sessions and you may attend all sessions or only a few as your schedule allows. For those who have a wish to engage in Refuge Preliminary Retreat Practice this will be suitable for your retreat practice.
